Morning sickness

Morning sickness is a colloquial term for nausea and vomiting in pregnancy. First step to improving your symptoms is to decrease the size of the meal and to eat more frequently (frequent, small meals). Next buy Unisom and Vitamin B6 at the store- you can find them over the counter. Take them together at night. Most of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy is actually heartburn. Start taking Pepcid (Famotidine) twice daily.

Ginger is another remedy for nausea, and there’s several forms that you can find it. Ginger tea, ginger candy, ginger ale.

If these remedies aren’t preventing your nausea and vomiting, you may need a stronger prescription for an anti-nausea medication.

If you are not able to keep down fluids, that is a reason to get evaluated sooner. You can then receive IV hydration and IV nausea medication. Some pregnant women have to stay in the hospital until their nausea/vomiting is under control. Remember, you are growing a human, so if you are not able to nourish yourself, you cannot nourish your baby.
